Overview


Eligibility Exchange students must meet all of the following conditions
(1) Unless otherwise agreed, the applicant is currently enrolled as a degree-seeking above 2nd year student in a university with which The University of Nagano has concluded a student exchange agreement (hereinafter referred to as “partner university”). (In light of the principle of student exchange, students who will be enrolled in, and pay tuition fees to, partner university during their intended study period are eligible.)
(2) Students who will have graduated from partner universities by the end of the Program at The University of Nagano are not eligible.
(3) The applicant has good academic records, sufficient Japanese and English proficiency, and is recommended by the head of his/her department or his/her academic advisor.
(4) The applicant is physically and mentally in good health and is expected to complete the program successfully.
(5) The applicant will observe applicable laws and regulations during their participation in this Program as well as rules and instruction as an exchange student by agreements on student exchange with The University of Nagano.
Study abroad period and duration Select one of the following:

[2 quarters]
・Spring semester admission (Quarter 1 to Quarter 2): April through early August
or
・Fall semester admission (Quarter 3 to Quarter 4) : September through early February of the following year


[4 quarters]
・Spring semester admission (Quarter 1 to Quarter 4): April through early February of the following year
or
・Fall semester admission (Quarter 3 to Quarter 2 of the following year) : September through early August of the following year


NOTE: At the University of Nagano, Quarter 1 begins in early April and Quarter 2 ends between late July and early August. Quarter 3 begins in late September, and Quarter 4 ends in late January or early February.

Language requirement Japanese Language Proficiency Test (sponsored by the Japanese Association for International Education and Support and the Japan Foundation) N2 level or above. You may be asked to have an online interview.

About classes At the University of Nagano Prefecture, each class session lasts 100 minutes. By law, exchange students must attend at least 10 hours of classes per week. (One class session is equivalent to two hours). Registration for courses must be completed within the designated registration period. The syllabus including detailed course descriptions is available.
The University of Nagano -Syllabus-
Accommodation Exchange students will stay in Zozan Dormitory. Monthly dormitory and common-area fees are to be paid by the student (approx. 30,000 yen). Bedding is purchased separately (approx. 10,000 yen). Details will be provided after the student is admitted to the dormitory.
