Kunio Senga

Chief Executive Officer, Save the Children Japan

With his vast experience in development assistance in the Asia and Pacific region, Kunio was appointed to lead Save the Children Japan in June 2013. Prior to his current position, Kunio spent nearly 30 years at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), most recently as the Director General of the Southeast Asia Regional Department and previously as the Director General for South Asia. In these roles he managed the operations of the programs and he developed the mid to long term strategy of the region. Among his various appointments with the ADB, some of his management roles include Director General of Strategy and Policy Development, and Director of the Budget and Management Services Division. He played a key role in developing important partnerships for the ADB with other multilateral development banks and bilateral agencies. Kunio began his career at the International Labor Organization. Kunio earned his MA in Economics from the University of the Philippines as a Ford Foundation International Economic Program Fellow. He received his BA from Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippine.
