Lanfranco Blanchetti-Revelli holds a PHD in Socio-Cultural anthropology from Johns Hopkins University. First as a consultant and later as a social development specialist at the World Bank and at the Asian Development Bank he has more than 25 years of experience in the development and mainstreaming of social safeguards policies and in their practical application in public and private investment projects. Currently he works as independent international consultant.
Prior to his involvement in resettlement and Indigenous Peoples safeguards Mr. Banchetti -Revelli has carried out intensive anthropological fieldwork among Muslim communities in the Southern Philippines. His academic work and publications have focused on Islam, ethno-history, ethnicity and Nationalism and on the environmental dimension of traditional agricultural practices and the political economy of world commodities.
